Leon de Almeida, will be joining us as an intern for the month of June!

Originally from Brazil, Leon moved to Bathurst in November 2016 to study Programming & Mobile Applications at the CCNB.

It makes us so happy to see people from around the world coming to Bathurst and enjoying the beauty and tranquility that everyone here at Websolutions enjoys so much.

Q: Why Bathurst?

L: I came to Bathurst because I got a scholarship from my college in Brazil with a partnership in Canada. Last year, during a job event, Josh Gammon told me about the company and I was really interested because I thought that once I am done with my course I could do an internship at Websolutions.ca. I wanted to stay in Bathurst and work in my domain.

Q: What do you aim to achieving in your one month here?

L: I want to learn a lot from all of you. I want to integrate in the company and my main goal is to convince you all to let me stay here. Not to just intern here for a month, but to stay for a longer period of time.

I follow pages too - lifestyle, food, restaurants, news agencies, businesses around where I live. So why do I stop to like or share content from these pages? Because they are telling me a story. And that’s where the relationship is built.

Q: What are you working on right now?

L: I am working on a crash course on Ruby and Ruby on rails.

Q: What do you love about Bathurst?

L: I love the way I was hosted, the way I was welcomed into the community. When I first came in everyone was very warm to me and I think I integrated really well with the people here. I don’t really feel like a stranger here. I have friends, I have family and I think that’s the main thing. When I came to Canada, I lived with Lucie Hachey and Yannick Mongeau and I call them my Canadian parents.
And added to that you have nature and peace in the region!

Q: Favourite place to eat in Bathurst?

L: Monty's Pretzelria!!

Q: Favourite spot in the region?

L: Pabineau Lake, for sure.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?

L: Apart from programming, I am really into art and illustrations and I also do animation and everything related to graphic and design. I have been drawing since I was 5 and I really like that. I did an exhibition of my illustrations at CCNB and I got feedback from people which was really cool. I also like playing music and singing and I sing at the choir here. Music is also very important to me.
